May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight, LORD
my Rock and my Redeemer.
When the storm clouds hover over us, day after day never seeming to pass and the darkness around us seems to close in life gets uncomfortable, it can be overwhelming.
We do not often think of darkness as a place where God dwells. But if He dwells in you and you are in that place in your life, then he is right there with you. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you or forsake you” Deuteronomy 31:6 & Hebrews 13:5
Before digital technology, the film in a camera had to be developed in a dark room. If the film were exposed to light it would ruin the photo. Have you ever thought of that dark place as the place where God is developing a Godly Character in you?
But it is not only in the dark places of our life He desires to grow our character. His desire is for us to seek him in the good times and in the bad. It is in the quiet time we spend with Him that we can hear Him say,” My Child I am here with you.
I Love you, just sit here with me and let me hold you.” It is then that His peace will come.
But what about when we haven’t the energy, or the words to pray? What about the times when we feel we haven’t a tear left to cry? That is when the prayers of others carry us. As long as Moses held up the staff in his hand the Israelites had the advantage. But whenever he dropped his hand, the Amalekites gained the advantage. Moses arms soon became so tired he could no longer hold them up. So, Aaron and Hur found a stone for him to sit on. Then they stood on each side of Moses, holding up his hands. So, his hands held steady until sunset. Thus, Joshua won the battle. Exodus 17:11-13 Bear you one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2
David was anointed by God twenty two years before he became the king. His character was being developed in the hidden places of a field practicing with a sling, killing lions and bears while watching over his sheep and later in a cave while running and hiding for his life. 1 Samuel 16:11 - 2 Samuel 5
Joseph was in a deep dark hole in the ground and later a prison serving time for a crime he didn’t commit. During this time, he was being developed with the character he needed for the high position God had ordained him for. Genesis 37–50.
We must trust God even in the hardest of times, allowing him to hold us when we have no more strength to hold on. Knowing that his plan for our life will come forth as his character is developed in us.
These things I have spoken onto you, that in me you might have peace. In the world, you will have tribulation: but be of good cheer; for I have overcome the world. John 16:33
And I will give you hidden treasures, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am THE LORD the God of Israel the one who calls you by name Isaiah 45:3
