May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight, LORD
my Rock and my Redeemer.
What is Love? What does it look like? Many people have spent most of their life in search of someone to love and accept them. Rejection seems to have saturated our world and our minds.
Perhaps you have felt rejected for most of your life by those around you who were supposed to love and care about you. Perhaps you have spent most of your life looking for love in all the wrong places, only to find disappointment and heartache.
It’s hard to imagine the kind of love that would cause someone to lay his life down for you. John 15:13
It’s hard to love those who do not love you back.
But God loved the world so much that he gave his only son so that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16
How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1
Love is the only language that is universal.
No matter what we do or where we go, God’s love will always be there for us.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38-39
But what is love?
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, and it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust, always hopes, and always perseveres. Love never fails.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
What kind of world would it be if we could all open our hearts to accept the love of a heavenly father who loves us unconditionally? What kind of world would it be if we could all love others and see them through his eyes?
God, help me to accept your love for me and help me to love others as you have loved me.
