May the words of my mouth
and the meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight, LORD
my Rock and my Redeemer.
Be humble, Be Gentle, and Do Not take Offense. Ephesians 4:2
Some of us wear a belt around our waist that is made up of lies rather than truth.
We have wrapped offense around our waist and carry it wherever we go, even to bed at night.
We carry it like a fanny pack that we are able to hide by wearing it under our clothes.
Even though sometimes it is heavy and can cause pain, because we feel that it has value, we refuse to let it go. After all, that which has caused us to take up offense, we feel is true, and we carry it for protection.
Out of offense comes Pride. “No one is ever going to hurt me again!”
Out of offense comes Anger. When you take offense, it is impossible to be humble or gentle.
God tells us in his word to put on the whole armor of God. Starting with the belt of truth. Ephesians 6:10-17
Which do you choose to walk in? The truth of God’s word and what he says about you and who you are? Or the lies that the enemy would desire to destroy you with?
It’s really up to you.
