I had a dream and in the dream I saw a person with a bucket (as if a beggar) sitting and waiting for people to put something in the bucket. Then I noticed that the bucket had holes in it, so that whatever was put in the bucket would eventually seep out (the holes appeared to have been shot from the outside in, as if they were holes made from a shot gun). But then I heard the person who was holding the bucket call out the name of Jesus several times, and as the person called the name of Jesus the holes in the bucket began to fill up, so that the bucket was solid to hold things once again. As I awoke I was hearing the lyrics to the song, “A Hole in my Bucket” Where Henry is telling Liza about the hole in his bucket and wanting her to do something about it, while Liza is telling Henry to fix the hole himself. And then I was reminded of the story in the bible, about the lame man who sat and begged by the gate of the temple and when he saw Peter and John about to enter the temple he asked them for some money. Peter looked at him and said, “I don’t have any silver or gold but what I have I will give you.” Then Peter helped the lame man to his feet, and he was instantly healed. Acts 3:1-6
When I asked Holy Spirit what was the meaning of the dream, this is what I heard;
The person holding the bucket represents those who depend on others (people, churches, pastors, friends and things) expecting them to meet their needs and fill their bucket.
The bucket represents the heart of the person, and although the holes in the bucket appeared to have been caused from the outside in, the holes had actually evolve from the inside out. The bucket was being eaten away from an acid like substance that was constantly being stored in the bucket. This was representing things within the person that was eating at their insides like a poison acid-things like, fear, unforgiveness, bitterness, jealousy, greed, slander, lust, desires for the things of the world, etc.
The song represents the person always blaming others for where they are in life and expecting others to fix their problem for them. When what they need to do is call on the name of Jesus for themselves so that they can be healed from the inside out. Because true healing of the heart does not come from the outside in, It comes from the inside out.
“It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.” Matthew 15:11 (this representing the acid eating the holes in the bucket.)
Our bucket will always have holes in it from the acid within our hearts eating away at it, unless we stop expecting others to fix our problems for us and we call upon the name of Jesus ourselves and allow Him to heal us, restore us and make us whole.
Your friends, church, pastor, job, finance’s or your family will never be able to fulfill the empty places in your heart. Only Jesus can take away your sorrows, only He can make the dark clouds roll away. Only Jesus can fulfill your longing and take you into a brand new day.
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” Matthew 11:28-30
“If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land. My eyes will be open and my ears attentive to every prayer made in this place”. 2 Chronicles 7:14 &15
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen. If you look for me wholeheartedly, you will find me.” Jeremiah 29:11-13
Just call on His Name. There is power in His name. He is waiting for you.
Surely the arm of the Lord is not to short to save, nor his ear to dull to hear. Isaiah 59:1
